The neighborhood, called "Alberone" for the presence of an oak tree 400 years old, is a very lively area, full of people, restaurant, supermarkets and shops, always in motion and action.
The inhabitants, very fond of the "Great Oak" love to sit in the shade of its branches while enjoying one of the excellent homemade ice cream or a slice of pizza margherita, chosen from the wide range of bars and pizzerias present in the area.
At 100 meters there is the Metro line A Furio Camillo and many bus stops to get to the city center in 20-30 minutes. San Giovanni’s Basilica could be reached by feet.
These are the two recommended ways for cost and time to reach the location of the airports.
From Fiumicino " Leonardo da Vinci" : railway line Orte Fara Sabina (e. 8,00 / person) - Every 15 minutes - Get off at the station Tuscolana , walk through Tuscolana and merge onto Via Veturia . Take Via Veturia to the traffic light on Via Appia Nuova. Cross Via Appia Nuova (on the right there is the Alberone !) , Take Via Gino Capponi and reach number 76.
From Ciampino Airport "G. Pastine B " Line ATRAL (e. 1,20 / person) - every 15 minutes - until the Metro A Anagnina station (journey time 20 minutes). Take line A (e. 1,50 / person) - every 2 minutes - until the station Furio Camillo . The turnstiles to exit go right and then up the stairs to the right. Turn left on Via Appia Nuova on foot for 100 meters, then at the traffic lights (there is Alberone in front of you !) Turn left and take Via Gino Capponi . Reach number 76
One of the attractions of the area is the most characteristic & typical vegetable market, open every day from 04.30 am to 01.30 pm except Sundays.
In the bustling and colorful market, you can find everything: juicy fruit in season, the crisp and fresh vegetables to eat as a snack, the excellent bread of Rome, the pizza, the "porchetta" (pork cooked on a spit with laurel and rosemary, perfect for a healthy and tasty sandwich), cakes and biscuits, the "mozzarella di bufala", all kinds of meats, but also clothes, household items and furniture that will certainly not be found in stores souvenir of the center at a really good price!
